Existing comment: Protest Art Masterpiece

Picasso created his iconic painting Guernica (partially visible behind the artist) just six weeks after the Basque village was bombed on April 26, 1937, by Nazi German aircraft under orders from Spanish military dictator Francisco Franco. His searing anti-war indictment continues to be among history's most enduring examples of protest art. Magnum Photos co-founder David Seymour, born David Szymin and known as CHIM, took this photograph of Picasso at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris.
