Joseph Douglass (1971-1935) shown here with his grandfather abolitionist Frederick Douglass, was a professional concert violinist who performed at home and abroad. He held tenured positions at the Colored Music Settlement School and Howard University. In this letter he accepts activist Mary Church Terrell's invitation to perform at a celebration in honor of the author Harriet Beecher Stowe.
