Existing comment: The African Diaspora
Americans are nearly all diaspora people. Diaspora refers to any group separated from their homelands, whether American Indians removed from tribal lands, European immigrants, or Africans transported by force for slave labor.
The diaspora resulting from the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade spans the Americans. Terms such as African American, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-Latin communicate people's new identities. There are differences between them but their shared origins and freedom struggles have also fostered similarities in their cultural expressions.
