Seen here at a Smithsonian Associates event back in 2005 with someone who no longer wears striped shirts, former Senator Bob Dole passed on December 5, 2021. Wounded in World War II, he went on to become a US Senator from Kansas (1969 to 1996) as well as the Republican nominee for Vice President (1976) and President (1996). Despite his patriotism, he supported Trump in both 2016 and 2020, although acknowledging that Trump had lost the 2020 election. |
