Existing comment: Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (1929–1994)
Born Southampton, New York
Suit worn by Jacqueline Kennedy
As first lady, Jackie Kennedy had the majority of her clothes custom made by Chez Ninon, a New York City clothier who received special permission from Parisian fashion houses to create replica garments that were "made in America." However, the fabric and buttons were often supplied by the original designer, as was the case for this gray wool "Givenchy" suit. The pink "Chanel" suit that she was wearing in the motorcade, when her husband was assassinated in Dallas Texas, was also made by Chez Ninon.
