In April 1942, Kuniyoshi collaborated with artists George Grosz and Jon Corbino to paint larger-than-life caricatures of World War II despots: Kuniyoshi depicted emperor of Japan, Hirohito; German-born Grosz depicted Nazi Party leader, Hitler; and Italian-born Corbino depicted leader of the National Fascist Party, Mussolini. The artists with their caricatures were later featured in several publications.
