The Usher's Desk:
Used in the White House Usher's Office from 1902 to 1948, this desk had an intercom system allowing the White House usher to contact staff in various parts of the building. President Woodrow Wilson (1913-21) also sat at this desk when he signed a document declaring war on Germany on April 6, 1917. Press one of the buttons in front of you to hear firsthand accounts about working in the White House.
