Caring for the White House and President's Park:
The National Park Service (NPS) began caring for the White House and President's Park after they became part of the National Park Service in 1933. The NPS staff helps guide and educate visitors at the White House Visitor Center and in President's Park. The NPS is responsible for preserving and maintaining the White House exterior, the gardens surrounding the White House, the grounds of President's Park, and the principal public rooms of the Executive Residence.
