Late 19th Century
In 1884, the first cross-border railroad links El Paso and Cuidad-Jaurez. The US is heavily invested in both railroads and mines in Mexico, and builds infrastructure such as railroad tracks, stations, and customs houses for train traffic. Mining infrastructure includes cables to transport silver and gold across the border to smelters on the US side.

1904
