The Bohemian Brigade

Wartime artists and reporters, known collectively as the Bohemian Brigade, used the telegraph to send stories to their editors; this allowed for the speedy transfer of news from the front. Sketches, however, had to be sent by courier. Because of limited censorship, newspaper accounts were republished in enemy papers and frequently used as sources of information by military commanders.
