Peter Francisco
Known as the "Virginia Giant," fifteen-year-old Francisco stood 6.5 feet tall and weighed 260 pounds when he enlisted in the 10th Virginia Infantry. He fought in the New York and New Jersey campaigns of 1777-1779 and was twice wounded. After reenlisting, he was wounded at Camden, South Carolina. Returning home to Buckingham County, his encounter with British cavalry became legendary.
