The Virginia Department of Historic Resources
The mission of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources is to foster, encourage, and support the stewardship of Virginia's significant historic architectural, archaeological, and cultural resources.
As the State Historic Preservation Office in Virginia, the Department of Historic Resources (DHR) maintains the Virginia Landmarks Register, manages Virginia's historic tax credit program, and administers the creation of official highway historical markers. In addition, the DHR is the state's repository for archaeological collections and preserves artifacts recovered from more than 850 archaeological sites representing Virginia's past. |
