"Oliphant offered a style totally his own and revolutionary in the field. The Oliphant look -- long-faced characters, sparse use of icons and labels, arresting "camera angles" -- still dominates the field, at least in the minds of cartoonists who aspire to Oliphant's unflagging brilliance."
-- Richard Marshall in the Columbia Journalism Review, 1999

Published collections of Oliphant's cartoons have helped confirm his influence on both the political conversation and fellow cartoonists. For twenty years beginning in 1980, Andrews McMeel produced these annual collections of Oliphant's selected cartoons. Together with exhibition catalogs, they gather a significant percentage of Oliphant's work, thought much remains uncollected.

Oliphant's vibrant original art for several book covers may be found in the archive. The cherry palette in this case belies the subject matter: note the arrow that punk is following.
