Norwegian Christmas at Union Station
This Christmas tree is presented by Norway to the people of Washington, DC, in recognition of the strong friendship between Norway and the United States, and in gratitude for America's assistance during and after World War II.
As we celebrate the 23rd anniversary of this tradition, the theme of the Christmas tree this year is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These goals address the challenges we face as a global community. The 17 goals were adopted by the United Nations Member States in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which set out a 15-year plan to achieve the goals.
Norway is a committed partner to the SDGs, and is making national and international efforts to reach the goals of the agenda.
