In the distance is Bancroft Hall where the cadets stay. The statue to the left of the sidewalk is said to be that of Indian warrior Tecumseh who was the figurehead of the USS Delaware in 1817. The next two pictures show what happens to Tecumseh during football season. However, they point out at http://usna.navpooh.com/navy_page2.html that the statue was actually Tamenend, the peaceful leader of the Delaware Indians who befriended early settlers. |
