Memorial Buddhist Stupa

The Memorial Buddhist Stupa was cast, at the instigation of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, to commemorate the occasion that the General Assembly at its 54th Session adopted Resolution 54/115 on 15 December 1999 acknowledge the contributions that Buddhism has made to the promotion of peace and goodwill among humanity for over 2,500 years, as well as to observe the International Recognition of the Day of Vesak at the United Nations Headquarters and other UN offices. The Day of Vesak is the day most sacred to Buddhists, it is celebrated ion the full moon day of May each year, to recognize the day Buddah was born. This holy day represents the day that Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and passed away.

The Memorial Stupa, contains holy relics of the Lord Buddha from Thailand, Sri Lanka and Union of Myanmar. It stands for peace, goodwill, non-violence and compassion preached by Lord Buddha.
