Phillips wrote to his treasurer Dwight Clark from Paris to tell him the joyous news that he purchased Luncheon of the Boating Party from gallery dealer DUrand-Ruel. Phillips was correct in his forecast that "people will travel thousands of miles to our house to see it." |
