Feel the difference between the barrels of a smoothbore and rifled musket. A ball fired from a smoothbore musket wobbles as it travels along the barrel and seldom flies accurately for any distance. The rifled barrel has two spiral grooves cut on the inside that impart a controlled spin on the ball. A spinning ball flies straighter and travels farther. |
