Max Kalish Sculpture:
These three bronzes are part of a series of fifty statuettes of notable Americans involved in World War II. A Lithuanian immigrant, Max Kalish studied at New York's Academy of Design and became renowned for his figurative sculpture. These works were commissioned by Washington publisher Willard M. Kiplinger and, upon completion, given to the Smithsonian. All were made from life sittings in Washington during the height of the conflict.
