Always interesting to see the canal by the (unfinished) Washington Monument. Note the dock and island between the Washington Monument and the White House.
There's only one Smithsonian museum (the Castle) here. Much of the river would be filled with dredge to make it more navigable. In 1918, the Navy filled in most of the land from 17th to 21st Streets. |
