Decomposition Timelapse

After Death

As soon as the lizard dies, bacteria in the gut and on the body (as well as other microorganisms in the nearby environment) begin to multiply and feed on the lizard's soft parts.
These microorganisms need warm, moist conditions to thrive. In very cold or dry conditions, decomposition happens more slowly -- or not at all.
