Defund MPD
We demand a:
* R educe MPD's budget by 50% over the next 3 years -- Freeze MPD hiring. Cap overtime. Fire officers who violate civil rights. Stop reapportioning DC funds to MPD.
* E ducate with care and compassion -- Remove all police from DC schools. Fund more school counselors. Increase pay for teachers.
* F und our communities -- Invest MPD funds into services that uplift DC's working class communities, such as health and social services, housing and reparations.
* U nify the community with real public safety -- Create a non-police 911 response center. Expand violence interruption programs. Decriminalize homelessness, drug use/possession, sex work, and street vending.
* N on-violence in all public services -- Ban stop-and-frisk. Make officers personally liable for lawsuits < $10k. Remove police from traffic enforcement, mental health responses, and wellness checks.
* D emand brave leadership. Vote NO on all MPD budget increases. Implement these demands without delay. |
