"We are all working from home but there has been a round of layoffs already. It's so strange to have slightly more more time, not commuting, but a strange scramble of resources. I'm thankful my boss has been focused on communicatng and listening. We need to protect workers. I'm currently housing my dad so he won't get exposed while working at a BJ's Wholesale Club in Arlington. I didn't want him sheltering in place either. He stays in a group house where he rents in Falls Church, two of them work in Fairfax Inova Hospital. It's a strange mix of blessings and agony. He loves the time with our daughter but we all hate feeling trapped and wish we could help others as equally. The uncertainty is maddening. Volunteering has made me feel more sane than anything. I feel like I struggle to be a good daughter and provider. Looking outside myself, we have tried to stay plugged into mutual aid to give what we can materially or monetarily. Also, training folks through rising organizations. It's really all too much, so we have got to get/stay organized to rebuild a world that serves us all."
