The Peacock Room is James McNeill Whistler's (1934-1903) most complete masterwork. Whistler applied his Asian-inspired aesthetic to the room's walls, ceiling, fireplace, and shelves, using paint and gilding to transform the space into what he called his Harmony in Blue and Gold.
