Originally from Slovenia, Melania Trump became a United States citizen in 2006. She is the only naturalized citizen to serve as first lady. During her first months in this role she has hosted foreign heads of state, traveled to visit victims of hurricanes, welcomed Americans to the White House, accompanied the president on diplomatic trips, and paid special attention to children in visits to schools and hospitals at home and abroad. In September, Melania Trump represented the United States in her first solo trip abroad when she traveled to the Invictus Games in Canada. |
