Note the home address listed for the parents of this newborn: P.O. Box 1663, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The ruse of giving everyone at Los Alamos a single mailing address may not have been entirely effective. Supposedly, sales clerks at Sears, Roebuck & Co. became suspicious when, within a short time, they received a dozen orders for bassinets -- all to be sent to that one address. |
