Approximately 1,000 families were summarily evicted after the government bought the land that would become the Clinton Engineer Works. The recipients of the eviction notice reproduced here were given only ten days to vacate their property. The notice claimed that the land was to be used for a demolition range -- a ruse intended to disguise the true nature of the facility. |
