The Art of Ex Libris

The role of the bookplate was, is, and always will be to indicate the ownership of a book in which it is placed. A personalized bookplate adhered to the inside cover of a book allows one to proudly claim ownership of that book. The images adorned on bookplates are often representative of its owner and symbolize them in certain ways. The historic use of bookplates has also allowed historians, bibliophiles, collectors and others to establish the provenance of many old tomes.
