The Caucus Room
Russell Senate Office Building

The Caucus Room is the oldest and one of the largest (74 feet long by 54 feet wide) assembly rooms built for the Senate. Completed in 1909, it was designed in the Beaux Arts style by John Carrere and Thomas Hastings, a prominent New York architectural partnership. Richly detailed in marble using the Corinthian order, the room provides a dignified setting for important meetings and social functions.

This room has been the site of many significant Senate investigative hearings. Listed below are the dates, topics, and chairmen of some of the most dramatic of those inquiries.
