This church was built in 1898 as the Washington Hebrew Congregation Building. The congregation, the oldest Jewish one in the city, was formed in 1852 by twenty-five mainly German Orthodox Jews. The building is now the Greater New Hope Baptist Church. I always thought it looked like a bombed out World War II building. |
