Time "pony" edition, April 9, 1945
Made for GIs serving in World War II, "pony" editions contained the same content as the regular Time, though without advertising. Their small size rendered them easier to ship abroad to troops and made them portable in the field. The cover of this issue features General George S. Patton (1885-1945), who led the Seventh Army in the invasion of Italy and the Third Army after the Normandy landings in 1944.
