Timeless Trains
Toys are universal. Every child is given at least a few, and time blends and gilds memories of play, learning, affection, and family -- especially during the holidays. Toys are also topical and value-laden: the Jerni Collection epitomizes a golden age of toy manufacture and transportation. Toys from the 1850s to the 1950s amused children while teaching them how clockwork, steam power and electricity really worked. Though the railroad has declined, toy trains remain popular and will continue to delight children and the young at heart for generations to come. |
