President Franklin D. Roosevelt Receiving Norman Rockwell's Children's Crusade for Children Painting, 1940
The Children's Crusade for Children was a charitable organization whose purpose was to teach American children about the advantages of living in a democratic country and give them an opportunity to express, through their contributions, concern for the plight of children in war-torn nations. Norman Rockwell was commissioned to create the s=poster illustration for the Crusade's charitable drive. He is seen here with his oldest son, Jarvis (far right), as he presents his painting President Roosevelt during their only known meeting. |
