Photographer John Collier, Jr. captured this intergenerational scene of a New England fisherman and his family gathered around the radio, a primary source of news and entertainment during World War II. In 1941, Collier began working for the Farm Security Administration (FSA), and later lent his skills to the Office of War Information (OWI). He served as a Merchant Marine in 1943 and 1944. |
