Frederic Bazille was born on December 6 in Montpellier in southern France. His father, Gaston Bazille, was an agronomist and winegrower. He was appointed deputy mayor of Montpellier in 1867. Frederic's mother, Camille Vialars, came from a family of well-to-do merchants and landowners. His younger brother Marc was born in 1845. |
