Los Angeles Times photographer Barbara Davidson was named Newspaper Photographer of the Year for the second time since 2006. A veteran photojournalist who has covered conflicts and natural disasters around the world, Davidson also has won two Pulitzer Prizes, one for covering Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and another for her 2010 series on victims of gang violence. Her 2013 portfolio included powerful photos of a severely burned Afghan girl sent to the United States for medical treatment and trauma surgeons treating gunshot victims in Los Angeles. |
