Medal of Honor
The Medal of Honor was first created in 1861 to be "bestowed upon such petty officers, seamen, landsmen and Marines as shall distinguish themselves by their gallantry in action." Since then, nearly 300 Marines and 18 Navy Corpsmen have received the decoration for gallantry above and beyond the call of duty. Although their stories are unique, these men all share a common devotion to their comrades, their mission, and their Corps. |
