Gemini XI Astronauts and naval aviators Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad Jr and Lieut. Commander Richard F Gordon are welcomes aboard USS Guam (LPH-9) after completion of their mission, during which they orbited the Earth 44 times in nearly 3 days. Conrad went on to command the all-Navy crewed Apollo XII and was the third man to walk on the Moon. His last space mission was as commander of Skylab II. Gordon flew to the Moon as command module pilot of Apollo XII. |
