Equal Opportunity in Education:
Passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title IX prohibited sex discrimination in education programs supported by Federal dollars. The number of girls playing sports in high school and college soon quintupled. Although Title IX guarantees equal opportunity, it did not guarantee equal spending. See highlighted text. |
