Taxation without Representation:
Amelia Bloomer resented the fact that she property "on which she is taxes without representation." She petitioned Congress to either relieve her from "this burden of taxation" or grant her the right to vote. Bloomer was living in Iowa at the time but spent most of her life in New York, where she had introduced Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Station to each other.
