The landings in Italy did not end German threats in the Mediterranean. On 6 November 1943, German aircraft attacked a convoy off Cape Borgaroun, Algeria. Beatty took a torpedo, broke in two, and sank three and a half hours later. The ensign was saved before the ship sank. |
