The Battle of Little Bighorn, also known as Custer's Last Stand, was an armed engagement that took place in south-central Montana between the United States Army and Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes in June on 1876.
For the Lakota and other Plains Indians, Little Bighorn is known as the Battle of the Greasy Grass. It was part of a larger conflict, the Sioux Wars, that took place in the second half of the nineteenth century.
