John Quincy Adams Medal

Peace medals were though to be so important for diplomatic purposes that presidents sat for special portraits to be engraved on the medals.
John Quincy Adams was not pleased with the image on his medal, and complained to the engraver. He said that the artist had made his nose too big and that he looked fat. Despite changes that were made to the engraving, Adams was never pleased with his medal.
