The Tenth Vermont Infantry mustered into service on September 1, 1862, with 1,016 men. The Tenth served in the III Corps until it disbanded, after which, they were assigned to the VI Corps in June of 1863. The regiment remained with the VI Corps for the remainder of the war, serving in both the Army of the Potomac and Army of the Shenandoah. They mustered out in Washington, DC on June 22, 1865, with 464 men. Over the course of their service, the Tenth saw action in at least 21 battles. |
