The notations that Cox and Smith made can clearly be seen in the margins of the bible even though they were in pencil over 154 years later. The writing on this and several other pages says, "The ball that struck this book entered my left breast + came out of right - it saved instant death + will be the means of saving my soul. Blessed are the dead that die in the lord." |
