Uncle Sam and Mexican Cartoonists

Uncle Sam is a universal icon that personifies the United States. He usually presents himself as a white man with a gray beard and dressed in the colors of the American flag.

Since the nineteenth century, cartoonists and illustrators from around the world have used him as a critical expression of this country.

Mexican cartoonists have always used the archetype.

We show, in this section, cartoons from 1924 through June 2019, presenting works by authors such as David Carrillo, founder of Museo de la Caricatura in Mexico City, which protects the memory of graphic humor in Mexico.
