Electric pianos employ hammers that strike metal reeds, creating fluctuations in a pickup's electromagnetic field that are then amplified. Ian McLagan, a keyboard player, member of the band Faces, and prominent session musician, used this electric piano on many recordings, including the 1978 Rolling Stones album Some Girls -- most notably on the song "Miss You."
