Historian David McCullough passed on August 7, 2022. He was an amazing speaker and writer. He won two Pulitzer Prizes as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom during Baby Bush's term. Like most sane people, he detested what Trump stood for and published a collection of essays in "The American Spirit: Who We Are and What We Stand For" (2017) in reaction to Trump's election. (That book included one of my photos for which I'm forever grateful.) He'll be missed.
He's seen here in 2011 at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue with a fan whose birthday happens to be the date of the Johnstown Flood, which was the subject of his first book. |
