V.M.I.cadet dress coatee worn by Cadet Charles Norris at the First Battle of Manassas:
Norris went into battle proudly wearing a coat he had borrowed from a fellow cadet. Pierced by a projectile, the coat's left shoulder shows evidence of the fatal wound. After the battle, Joseph Norris of the Loudoun Artillery took his younger brother's body home for burial in Leesburg, Virginia. |
