Wage-Earners and Society Women Join Forces
Despite skepticism from other suffrage organizations, the Women's Political Union held its first "Votes for Women Ball," in February 1912 at Murray Hill Lyceum. With tickets at 50 cents, the fund-raiser aimed to be inclusive, and it drew nearly two thousand dancers, including striking garment workers admitted for free. This flyer is for the February 1915 ball, held in the considerably larger Grand Central Palace on Park Avenue, for which fifteen thousand tickets were sold. |
